Catholic Daughters, Court of St Barbara #2153

Catholic Daughters of the Americas®

Formed in 1903, the Catholic Daughters of the Americas® (CDA) is one of the Oldest and Largest Organizations of Catholic Women in the Americas. We are a national organization, with 63,000 dues-paying members in 1,150 courts (local chapters) in 45 states across the country and in Puerto Rico, Mexico, Guam, the Virgin Islands, Kenya and Peru.

We provid local spirituality, sharing and activity under the support of a vibrant national organization. Members donate to charities, administer scholarship programs and strive "to be helping hands where there is pain, poverty, sorrow or sickness." They embrace the principle of faith working through love in the promotion of justice, equality and the advancement of juman rights and human dignity for all.

The CDA motto is "Unity and Charity". Our patroness is the Blessed Mother, and under her guidance members are united by their faith in Jesus Christ, in their devotion to the church and the Holy See.

Court of St Barbara # 2153, DeRidder, Louisiana

Court of St. Barbara #2153 was first established on October 9th 1976. Our chapter here at St. Joseph meets on the First Monday of every month in Kern Hall.  We are involved in the parish in many ways. We sponsor and annual scholarship, organize rosaries that are said in the homes of shut ins, host the May Crownin, the Fall International Food Festival, annual Trunk or Treat, and the Easter egg hunt and provide bereavement meals for the parishioners families. We are a very active Pro-Life group, donation and working with the Beauregard Pregnancy Center and The Gabriel Project. We also provide information and prayers for Morality in Media causes.

Our National projects include work for Disaster Relief, Habitat for Humanity, The Metanoia House in Bation Rouge, which helps rehabilitate rescued sex traffic victims. The Holy Cross Family Rosary which helps teach praying the rosary and strength through prayer chains, Apostleship of the Sea which provides spiritual, physical, and psychological services to seamen at port, and SOAR which supports our aging and ill community.
